Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-10-06
INKterest ("we", "us", the "App") is designed to protect your privacy. This policy explains what we do — and, more importantly, what we don't do — with your information.
The short version
INKterest works on your device. Your photos, the tattoo images you load, and the results you create stay in the App's local storage on your iPhone. We do not track you across apps or websites, and there is no account to create. We do collect anonymous usage statistics — which steps and features are used, never your images — and you can switch that off in Settings.
Information we do NOT collect
We do not collect, sell, or share your name, email, contacts, precise location, or your photos. INKterest has no user accounts and no advertising trackers. We do not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA), do not ask for tracking permission, and do not build advertising profiles. The one thing we do collect is described in "Usage statistics" below.
Usage statistics
To see where people get stuck, the App sends anonymous product analytics to Amplitude, our analytics provider, acting on our behalf.
- What is sent. That a step happened, and its shape: the app was opened, onboarding finished, 2D or 3D was chosen, the Pinterest browser was opened (from which screen, and whether you were already signed in to Pinterest) and whether you then signed in there, a tattoo came from Pinterest / a link / your gallery, a try-on started, a result was saved (and whether it was then opened from the save confirmation), the app's rating question was shown (and whether it was answered with a happy face, an unhappy one, or closed), a reminder of an unfinished try-on was put on the Lock Screen (and whether it was used to come back), a guide was opened, the paywall was shown, a purchase completed. Each carries only labels like "3D" or "gallery", plus the app version, the app language, and whether the build came from the App Store or TestFlight.
- What is never sent. Your photos and the tattoo images themselves, the links or pins you open, anything you type or search for, your Pinterest account or its contents, your email, your contacts, your location, and the Advertising Identifier (IDFA). We also switch off Amplitude's own collection of your IP address, carrier, city and the identifier iOS shares between apps from one vendor (IDFV).
- Who you are in the data. Nobody: there is no account and no user ID. Events are grouped by a random identifier generated on your device for this install, and deleting the App ends it.
- Turning it off. Settings → Analytics. With it off the App collects and sends nothing; nothing else about the App changes.
Amplitude processes this data as our processor under its own privacy policy, and our project uses Amplitude's EU data residency, so these statistics are stored on servers in the European Union. We keep the statistics for as long as they are useful for improving the App.
Information processed on your device
- Camera & photos. With your permission, the App uses your camera to preview tattoos on your body and your photo library to choose tattoo images and to save results. These images are processed on-device and stored locally in the App; they are not uploaded to us.
- Tattoo images you load. When you load a tattoo from a link, the in-app Pinterest browser, the share sheet, or your gallery, the image is fetched/imported and stored locally for preview. INKterest displays these images on your device only.
- App settings & local data. Preferences and local catalog metadata (e.g., your saved tattoos, photos, and results, and your remaining free try-on count) are stored on your device using standard iOS storage (UserDefaults/Keychain and the App's file container).
Purchases
INKterest offers optional in-app purchases (INKterest Pro). Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store and managed for us by RevenueCat, our purchase-infrastructure provider, to verify entitlements and restore purchases. This may involve a pseudonymous app-user identifier and your purchase/receipt data. We do not receive your Apple ID, name, or payment-card details. See Apple's and RevenueCat's privacy policies for how they handle this data.
Third-party content (Pinterest)
The App includes an in-app browser to view Pinterest. When you browse Pinterest, you are interacting with a third-party service governed by Pinterest's own privacy policy and terms. We are not affiliated with Pinterest and do not control its content or data practices.
Children
INKterest is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Data retention & deletion
Because your content is stored only on your device, you control it: deleting items in the App, or deleting the App, removes the associated local data from your device.
Security
Data stored on your device is protected by iOS's standard app sandboxing and device security. No method of storage is 100% secure, but keeping your data on-device avoids the risks of transmitting it to a server.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above when we do.
